Park Ethics
{Do's and Don'ts)
A Sanctuary/National Park is a restricted area where as per provisions of
Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 all living beings including Flora have a right
to survive. Animals / plants are allowed to propagate, perpetuate and flourish
in these protected areas.
Do's and Don'ts in the Park / Sanctuary
Do's
1. Treat the Sanctuary/National Park with respect.
2. Transistors, tape recorders and loud speakers are taboo in the sanctuary,
kindly maintain a silence.
3. Take strict precaution to guard against accidental forest fires caused
through carelessness.
4. Keep a reasonable distance from all animals.
5. Dress in colours that blend with the forest.
Don'ts
1. Do not enter the Sanctuary /National Park without valid permit.
2. Do not litter the sanctuary and avoid use of plastics and polythene products.
3. Do not damage or remove any specimen of flora and fauna.
4. Do not get out of the vehicles/vessels while watching wildlife and do
not use spotlight.
5. Do not drive inside the sanctuary after sunset.
• Access to any Sanctuary or National Park is
limited due to the fragile nature of ecosystems.
• All entry to the PAs requires prior permission.
• All multi-day trekkers must be accompanied by certified guides and
porters.
• Check in and consult at an interpretation facility or entry points
for tourist guides, literature,brochures, information, etc. before entering
the
Park / Sanctuary.
• Obtain necessary permission from the PA officials and pay prescribed
entry fees.
• Pay fees for use of camera and / or video and for filming.
• Commercial filming and videos require additional permits and fees.
• Do not disturb the Wildlife.
• No harvesting, hunting, trapping, collection of wildlife and wildlife
products, picking of plants, flowers, etc. is permitted.
• Whenever possible move silently through the forest.
• Keep silent or talk in a low voice during outings
to view wildlife.
• Report the death or injury of any wild animal that you may encounter,
to the nearest Forest Officer.
• Report any incident of forest fire to the nearest
Forest Officer.
• Pack out your non-degradable litter and deposit it at the appropriate
place when entering the park.
• Leave camp site cleaner than you found it.
• Respect the Ecozone villagers' privacy. Ask permission before taking
photos or ascertaining about somebody's property.
• Respect religious sites, temples, outdoor shrines. Remove shoes if
necessary.
• Dress yourself modestly.
